Description Of Basic Functions And Responsibilities

The Frosh-Soph/JV Head Coach demonstrates successful coaching experience or college playing experience in the sport applying to coach or high school playing experience and assistant coaching experience or working specific sport camps.

• Demonstrates successful ability to organize practices.
• Ability to work cooperatively with the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director to design an appropriate conditioning program.
• Demonstrates successful management and organization skills including following all district guidelines and policies.
• Ability to work with parent groups, administrators, staff and students.
• Ability to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork in a group of young people of perhaps widely varying athletic ability, socioeconomic background in preparation for the next level of play.
• Ability to help students balance a demanding academic workload with athletic commitment.
• Maintain and inventory equipment and uniforms as delegated by the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Playing experience in the specific sport at the high school, collegiate, amateur or professional level.
• Experience coaching youth leagues, middle school, or sports camp in the same sport, or equivalent experience.
• Current State of California coaching certifications.
• Current certification required by the East Side Union High School District, including but not limited to ANNUAL mandated reporter training.
• Must pass District Fingerprint clearance.
