About the Role
The Frosh-Soph/JV Head Coach demonstrates successful coaching experience or college/high school playing experience in the sport applying to coach, or relevant experience working at sport-specific camps. The coach instills commitment, discipline, and teamwork while working and communicating effectively with parents, students, staff, and the community.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques needed for the specific sport.
- Exhibit personality and character traits appropriate to educational leadership.
- Organize and lead effective practices.
- Work cooperatively with the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director to design an appropriate conditioning program.
- Follow all district guidelines and policies, demonstrating strong management and organization skills.
- Engage positively with parent groups, administrators, staff, and students.
- Maintain open and constructive communication with players and parents.
- Instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork in students of varying athletic ability and socioeconomic backgrounds, preparing them for the next level of play.
- Help students balance a demanding academic workload with athletic commitments.
- Collaborate with all coaches within the sport program.
- Adhere to CIF/CCS/BVAL Coaches Code of Conduct and BVAL policies and guidelines.
- Follow district protocols for cash handling as delegated by the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director.
- Maintain and inventory equipment and uniforms as delegated by the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director.
Requirements
- Playing experience in the specific sport at the high school, collegiate, amateur, or professional level.
- Experience coaching youth leagues, middle school, or sports camps in the same sport, or equivalent experience.
- Current State of California coaching certifications.
- Current certification required by the East Side Union High School District, including annual mandated reporter training.
- Must pass District fingerprint clearance.
- Professional references.

- Valid TB test results.
- Valid CPR certification.
- Valid First Aid certification.
- ASEP certification.
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Certification.
- Heat Illness Prevention Certificate.
- Mandated Reporter training.
- Sexual Harassment training.
- Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention training.
- Integrated Pest Management certification.
- Concussion certification.

Compensation for a hired coaching position is conditional on the lifting of restrictions and a team's authorized participation in the Fall, Winter, and Spring Sports season.
