COACH, EXTENDED LEARNING SPORTS
About the role
Helps elementary school athletes to play their best individually or as a team in sports such as but not limited to: football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, tennis and golf.
Responsibilities
- Teaches fundamental and advanced athletic skills to elementary school aged student-athletes in order to prepare them for competition
- Becomes an expert on the rules, strategies, and techniques required for the sport as well as knowledgeable about sports equipment, physical fitness and safety
- Supports the coordination and recruitment of student participants
- Attends preseason orientation hosted by ELCSports Administration to learn rules and expectations of the league
Requirements
- Current CPR Certification or the ability to obtain one prior to coaching (online CPR not accepted)
- Teacher Certification is preferred
- Previous coaching experience or experience working with urban youth preferred
Qualifications
- High School diploma/equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
Skills
Knowledge of the rules, strategies, and techniques required for the sport as well as knowledge of sports equipment, physical fitness and safety.
