Coach - Cross Country Head Coach
About the Role
Codman Academy Charter Public School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Varsity/Middle School Co-Ed Cross Country Coach. The Coach is responsible for leading student-athletes in developing their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship while adhering to all school and league policies. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive athletic environment.
Responsibilities
- Coaching & Team Development
- Plan and conduct regular practices that focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Instruct student-athletes in the fundamentals of the sport while fostering personal and athletic growth.
- Ensure all student-athletes meet eligibility requirements and adhere to team expectations.
- Promote leadership, integrity, and discipline among athletes.
- Administrative & Compliance
- Adhere to all Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) and Codman Academy Charter Public School policies and procedures.
- Manage and submit all required paperwork for participation, including rosters, waivers, and health records.
- Meet all deadlines set by CACPS Athletics for scheduling and participation requirements.
- Schedule all non-conference competitions and manage transportation logistics for practices and games.
- Attend all required pre-season and post-season meetings organized by the Athletics Department.
- Equipment & Safety
- Maintain and inventory athletic equipment and uniforms.
- Ensure a safe and respectful practice and competition environment for all athletes.
- Monitor student-athlete well-being and communicate any concerns to school administrators.
Qualifications
- Required
- Demonstrated knowledge of the sport and experience leading and organizing a team.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
- Completion of annual Youth Sports Concussion Training Certification.
- Successful completion of the MIAA Coaches Education Course.
- Preferred
- Previous coaching experience at the middle school or high school level.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and school staff.
Pay
Stipend: $1,500
