Coach, ASOC Club Sports

Duration: 11 months (possible extension), part-time (10 hours per week), non-exempt.

About the role

Each ASOC Club Sports Coach guides and mentors student participants in one of the following teams: Oxy Dance Team, Womyn's Rugby Club, Men's Rugby Club, Men's Ultimate, WAC Ultimate, Men's Lacrosse Club, or Oxy Gaming Guild. The coach develops and implements training programs, organizes and leads practices, and coaches teams during games and tournaments.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by fostering a professional learning environment and a positive approach to intercollegiate competitive play (50%).
• Provide feedback and guidance to participants on their individual performance and team dynamics (30%).
• Communicate with ASOC stakeholders regarding team schedules, practices, and games (10%).
• Collaborate with other coaches and the SLICE Director to maintain a positive and supportive team environment (10%).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience coaching or training a sports team at the high school or college/university level.
• Previous coaching experience in youth sports.
• Strong knowledge of the identified sport, including rules and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with an additional coaching or kinesiology certificate.
• 3+ years of experience coaching or training a sports team at the college/university level.

Pay

$18.42 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
