Co-Teacher (Infant/Toddler Classroom)

Education$25–$30/hrFull-time

About the Role

Seattle Jewish Montessori is looking for a warm, engaged teacher to help create a nurturing environment where children 12-18 months feel safe and families feel supported. We are a small Jewish nonprofit offering the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, receive individualized support, and contribute ideas every day. Our community includes families from across the Jewish spectrum and educators from diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to child-centered learning and joyful Jewish life.

Position Overview

You'll help families feel confident leaving their children each morning by providing consistent, loving care and thoughtful communication throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the classroom each morning so it is clean, organized, fully stocked, and ready for children.
  • Build warm, responsive relationships with infants and toddlers through play, conversation, and songs.
  • Spend time on the floor actively engaging with children rather than supervising from the sidelines.
  • Support children's care routines, including feeding, diapering, handwashing, and rest, with sensitivity and consistency.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary classroom by cleaning toys, sanitizing materials, and helping keep shared spaces organized.
  • Document children's daily experiences using the Playground app, including photos and observations.
  • Collaborate closely with co-teachers to plan activities, solve problems, and create a positive classroom culture.
