About the role

Report to the General Manager, China. Drive strategic publishing partnerships across China. This role will focus on developing relationships with universities, research institutes, hospitals, academic societies, journal offices, and publishers to grow Sage’s co-publishing and partner-journal portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new co-publishing opportunities with Chinese research institutions, societies, and publishers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with academic leaders, editors, society executives, and publishing partners.
  • Develop partnership proposals, business cases, and commercial agreements.
  • Lead contract negotiations and coordinate internal stakeholders to deliver successful partnerships.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging partnership opportunities.
  • Represent Sage at industry events, conferences, and key customer meetings.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in academic publishing, STM publishing, journal partnerships, or business development.
  • Strong network across the Chinese research, society, and publishing communities.
  • Proven track record in business development, partnership management, and negotiations.
  • Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and self-disciplined, capable of working independently or collaborating efficiently with the team.
  • Master's degree or above preferred.
