About the lab
Tsinghua University’s AI of Brain & Cognition (ABC) Lab, led by Professor Liu Jia, integrates cognitive science, neuroscience, and computational science to explore the nature of visual intelligence. Historically, these disciplines have pursued distinct paths: cognitive science constructs frameworks to predict complex behavior, neuroscience explores neural mechanisms to explain brain function, and computational science simulates neural activity to achieve artificial intelligence. The success of deep neural networks has accelerated interdisciplinary convergence, combining brain-like deep neural network models with cognitive neuroscience biological experiments to provide simulation models for understanding the brain’s cognitive neural mechanisms and to inspire new approaches in brain-inspired artificial neural networks.

About the role
As a core research member of the team, you will participate in the lab’s scientific research, specifically conducting systems neuroscience research on live animals while assisting in lab management and student mentorship.
Requirements
- PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., systems neuroscience, neurobiology, or computational neuroscience) with demonstrated outstanding research and management capabilities. Postdoctoral or prior research experience is preferred.
- Research background in systems neurobiology, with proficiency in live-animal techniques such as electrophysiological recording or imaging in mice, rats, marmosets, or macaques. Experience with two-photon imaging, marmoset experiments, or neural computation is a plus.
- Strong interest in scientific research, independent research capability, effective communication skills, and ability to collaborate and mentor students.

This position offers Tsinghua University’s research-series benefits (Deputy Researcher or Assistant Researcher) under a public-institution appointment. Salary and benefits follow Tsinghua University and national regulations, with salary negotiable.
