Responsibilities
- Prepare for office visits by reviewing patient’s reason for visit.
- Abstract clinical information into the medical record.
- Support assigned clinicians by performing clinical tasks such as rooming patients, taking vital signs, assisting with treatments and procedures.
- Communicate information to patients through direct and indirect interactions.
- Maintain exam and office supply inventory.
- Document appropriately in the EMR.
- Provide patient instructions regarding follow-up care.
- Notify patients of test results.
- Make telephone calls for patient outreach.
- Maintain patient exam rooms daily and between patients for cleanliness and supplies.
- Participate in daily huddles and attend staff meetings.
- Assist in the preparation of yearly evaluations and review yearly competencies.
- Observe and learn in other clinics, outside of assigned clinic.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Enrolled in an approved/contracted Medical Assistant program, preparing for CCMA.
- Minimum Work Experience: Previous work or volunteer experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.

- Demonstrated knowledge of medical procedures learned through Medical Assistant training.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and English grammar.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Able to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions; communicate clearly.
- Able to both lead and take direction from Nursing Manager.
