About the role
The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to the sales organization, including preparing quotations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a general understanding of all Voith Fiber Systems products and process technology, working with existing Application Engineers.
- Determine customer needs, problems, and requirements and deliver a solution (system or single machine) to fulfill/solve it.
- Define and size the required machines and systems according to the Voith Engineering Directives.
- Develop accurate, competitive, and appropriate quotations in a timely manner and create detailed cost estimates.
- Maintain a well-organized quotation file with accurate and current Sizing Sheets, Balances, Correspondences, and Equipment Specifications.
- Assist the Sales Team in determining customer needs and promote Voith products and technology through email, phone calls, meetings, or site visits.
- Support (participate in) the start-up and optimization of systems sold to maintain a thorough understanding of the process.
- Present at customer sites or conferences if required.
- Work as a team with cross-departmental colleagues.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a qualified educational program for a BS degree in Pulp & Paper Science or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to discuss technical topics with sales and engineering colleagues (local, national, international).
- Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to learn other programs.
- Discretion in handling confidential data.
- Paper mill experience is advantageous but not necessary.
- Self-starter requiring minimal guidance from superiors.
