Co-Op: Electrical Engineer (UT - Knoxville or Tennessee Tech)

About the role

Arconic is a leading provider of aluminum sheet, plate, and extrusions, as well as innovative architectural products, serving the automotive, aerospace, commercial transportation, industrial, packaging, and building and construction markets. The Electrical Engineering Co‑Op is a one‑year assignment (May 31, 2027 – December 17, 2027) that places students in dynamic projects with mentoring and professional development. Arconic aims to evaluate co‑op associates for potential future entry‑level openings, although full‑time employment after the program is not guaranteed. With over 20 U.S. locations, co‑ops may have the chance to work in various sites across the country. The program is based at Arconic’s Tennessee Operations facility, located three hours north of Atlanta, GA; 2.5 hours east of Nashville, TN; and 4 hours west of Charlotte, NC, in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. This modern aluminum fabricating plant has been operating for over a century and is recognized as a world leader in the business.

Responsibilities

• Assigned a manager and a mentor during the co‑op term.
• Work at times in an office environment and other times in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.
• Collaborate with other Engineering employees on projects that have a real impact to the business.
• Assist with maintenance, repairs, project planning, and other tasks as assigned.
• Maintain good standing as a co‑op student with their university to retain co‑op status with Arconic.

Requirements

• Must be a student at UT‑Knoxville or Tennessee Tech that qualifies for co‑op status.
• Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering.
• Must have completed the freshman year of schooling at the start of the program.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility will be required at hire.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Qualifications

• 3.0 GPA or above.
• Involvement in at least one extracurricular activity.
• Prior work experience.

Salary: $4,000
