Summary
The EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) Co-op is an intern position supporting safety and environmental programs within an aerospace manufacturing facility. This role provides hands-on experience in a highly regulated, production-focused environment, where the student will assist in promoting safe work practices, maintaining compliance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to company EHS standards and applicable regulations
- Collect and analyze safety and environmental data for reporting purposes
- Identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve workplace safety
- Maintain accurate and organized records of inspections, incidents, and training
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the organization
Qualifications
- Current student pursuing a bachelor’s or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with a results-driven mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter possessing a high level of integrity
- Strong communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, such as Excel, Word, etc.
- Must be reliable, flexible, and punctual
- Highly adaptable to working in a fast-paced environment
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Availability to work 16+ hours per week during the internship period
Expectation
- First 3 months: Learn core EHS activities, key stakeholders, and internal processes (compliance, hazard ID, reporting).
- After 3 months: Lead 1–2 EHS process improvement projects (e.g., 6S, SDS digitization, process streamlining).
- Ongoing: Support EHS projects from planning to completion, coordinating stakeholders and ensuring compliance.
