About the role
Bridgeway Behavioral Health Services is seeking a CADC Mental Health Specialist-Co-Occurring Specialist to join their team in Little Falls, New Jersey. The position offers a salary range of $54,000 - $65,000 annually, with a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the frequent monitoring and assessment of the mental health status of people served, including substance abuse assessment and development of individualized recovery plans.
- Works with the person served and the team to develop integrated mental health and substance use treatment goals and interventions.
- Teaches skills to support each person's individualized recovery journey and community integration.
- Provides group and individual treatment modalities, focusing on substance abuse treatment needs.
- Assists in relapse prevention planning and assists with attending recovery or self-help meetings.
- Develops motivation for decreasing substance use, increasing coping skills, and alternatives to minimize use.
- Utilizes evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing, Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment, cognitive behavioral interventions, and teaching strategies.
- Coordinates services with other community mental health and non-mental health providers, as well as other medical professionals.
- Provides 24-hour on-call coverage and rapid response to crises.
- Supports the service recipient's family and social network to help them manage symptoms and achieve wellness.
Requirements
- Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health field; CADC/LCADC required.
- Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience providing dual disorder/co-occurring services to individuals with co-occurring serious and persistent mental illness and substance abuse.
- Driver’s License/Vehicle: Valid driver’s license required; no more than one moving violation within the past 12 months; vehicle required.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
Skills
- Evidence-based practices (motivational interviewing, IDDT, CBT skills, IMR, Trauma Informed Care, Permanent Supportive Housing, Career Development).
- Group and individual treatment modalities.
- Relapse prevention planning and crisis intervention.
- Documentation and compliance with DMHAS/Medicaid standards.
