About the role

La Clinica de la Raza is seeking a Community Based Practice Extern to support their dental department. Founded in 1971, La Clinica now operates 35 sites across Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano Counties, serving over 91,532 patients annually with a focus on dental care.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic preventive and general dental care to patients of all ages.
• Participate in Phase I care, including emergency services, examinations, patient education, hygiene, preventive services, restorative services, exodontia, endodontia, and removable prosthodontic appliances.
• Assist with referrals to specialty services as needed.
• Mentor student dentists, dental residents, dental hygienists, and dental assistants on clinical care delivery.
• Engage in patient education on the importance of oral health and its connection to systemic health.

Requirements

• Current dental license in California.
• Experience in community-based dental care preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene or related field.
• Completion of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
• Passing scores on the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDE).

Skills

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
