CNC Technician

About the role

Operators use computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinery safely and accurately to perform a variety of functions. A keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude are essential. The goal is to produce high quality parts and materials by programming machines to perform the right operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare to load and unload raw materials and parts onto the machines.
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
  • Responsible for the quality of the products produced by the manufacturing cell to which they are assigned, including visual inspection of the parts or measuring characteristics using hand gages.
  • Verify conformance of machined and/or assembled parts to specifications using hand gages and/or CMM reports.
  • Conduct SPC checks as indicated in corresponding Control Plan and/or other Work Instructions, including visual inspection of parts.
  • Review CMM reports and/or other measuring methods as described in specific Work Instructions and Control Plan documentation, including written reports, job-specific forms, electronic forms, or reports.
  • Understand purge and contain procedures for quality-related issues.
  • Upkeep of work area.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical degree or certification in machining or CNC programming preferred.

Skills

  • Mechanical inclination and basic knowledge of manufacturing.
  • Intermediate math skills (understanding x, y, and z coordinates, ability to convert fractions to decimals, basic trigonometry).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience as a machine operator strongly preferred.
