CNC Setup and Operate - 2nd Shift
About the role
We are seeking a CNC Setup Operator – 2nd Shift to join our team. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this position involves setting up, adjusting, and preparing CNC lathes and milling machines for production. The role also includes supporting operators, collaborating with the quality team, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Set up CNC lathes, mills, and related equipment based on blueprints, job specifications, and setup sheets.
- Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, collets, and work-holding devices.
- Set and verify work offsets, tool offsets, and machine parameters.
- Perform first-piece inspections in coordination with Quality Assurance.
- Troubleshoot issues related to tooling wear, fixtures, offsets, and machine operation.
- Support CNC operators with machine adjustments and quality checks.
- Ensure machines run consistently following setup completion.
- Document setup information, quality checks, and production notes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience setting up CNC lathes and/or CNC milling machines.
- Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, and other precision tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
- Basic math skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and company policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of CNC setup experience in a production environment.
- Experience diagnosing and replacing worn tooling.
- Knowledge of Lean/continuous improvement practices.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Working Conditions
- Work on-site in a manufacturing facility.
- Scheduled work hours: 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm with overtime as needed.
- Physical requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift/carry up to 35 pounds, push/pull up to 35 pounds, move around manufacturing floor, read documents, communicate clearly, wear personal protective equipment.
