About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Set Up Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up, operate, and optimize CNC machining equipment to produce high-quality precision metal components. Your expertise in machine setup, tooling, blueprint interpretation, and quality inspection will help ensure efficient production while maintaining the highest quality standards. Responsibilities

  • Set up and prepare CNC lathes and milling machines, ensuring proper calibration, tooling, and machine readiness.
  • Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and machining specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform precision inspections using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other quality measurement tools.
  • Complete manual machining operations, including grinding, lathe work, or welding, as needed to support production.
  • Monitor machine performance and perform routine inspections, adjustments, and troubleshooting, including machines with Fanuc controls.
  • Follow lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, minimize waste, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain quality standards throughout production by ensuring parts meet engineering specifications.
  • Assist with tooling management and machine maintenance as required.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience setting up and operating CNC lathes and/or CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming fundamentals, including G-code and M-code.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMM equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of machining tools, hand tools, grinders, power tools, and tooling practices.
  • Basic math skills for machining calculations, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Experience troubleshooting CNC machines and resolving setup or production issues.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety procedures; experience with welding, forklift operation, or plastics support equipment is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
