About the role

CNC Machining skills are needed for a team focused on precision and innovation. This position involves operating CNC Lathe machines, optimizing setups, interpreting blueprints, troubleshooting programs, inspecting parts, coordinating with team members, adhering to safety standards, documenting issues, performing preventive maintenance, and more.

Responsibilities

  • CNC Operation: Set up and operate CNC Lathe machines for tasks like turning, drilling, bar feeding, and live tooling.
  • Machine Optimization: Improve setup times, enhance productivity, maintain offsets, and maximize machine efficiency.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Understand and apply blueprints and route instructions.
  • GD&T Application: Apply knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Program Troubleshooting: Identify and correct program errors, adjust settings as needed.
  • Inspection Process: Conduct in-process inspections and report non-conformances.
  • Collaborative Communication: Work with superintendents, managers, production control, and quality personnel to address quality concerns.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Shift Documentation: Record and document shift-related issues for smooth transitions.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform daily checks and document findings.

Requirements

  • Measurement Proficiency: Knowledge of calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
  • Math Skills: Strong basic math abilities.
  • Documentation Skills: Ability to document machining procedures accurately.
  • Tooling Knowledge: Familiarity with metals, part-holding fixtures, and lathe/mill tooling.
  • Machine Experience: Experience with Okuma, Mazak, and Mori lathe machines (preferred).
  • Communication: Basic oral communication skills and ability to read and complete logs and reports in English.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to handle heavy items, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components.
  • Policy Compliance: Availability to work scheduled hours and adhere to all company policies.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment and stand for an entire shift.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of machining practices, materials, and general mechanical principles.
  • Willingness to Learn: Eagerness to be trained and acquire new skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Reliability: Dependable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Okuma, Mazak, and Mori lathe machines (preferred).
