CNC Programmer / Machinist
About the role
Join our R&D team as a hands-on CNC Programmer & Machinist and help shape the next generation of innovative electric motor products. In this role, you’ll program and operate the CNC turning and machining centers in our R&D machine shop, playing a key part in delivering high-quality prototype evaluation units on time. Your precision, craftsmanship, and strong execution skills will directly support our goals for on-time delivery, quality, and continued product innovation. This opportunity is based in West Chester, PA.
Responsibilities
- Program, setup, and operation of the HURCO TM6i 2-axis CNC turning center.
- Program, setup, and operation of the HURCO VM5i 3-axis CNC machining center.
- Inspection of your own work using precision measurement tools (height stands, micrometers, calipers, indicators) to verify tight tolerances.
- Grind, fabricate, and sharpen specialty tooling as needed to support machining requirements.
- Assist with machine troubleshooting (as required) to minimize downtime and maintain productive CNC operations.
- Share knowledge of machine operation, setup, and programming fundamentals with other R&D team members when requested.
- Maintain quality, safety, and housekeeping standards in and around the CNC machine shop.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and documentation needed to support CNC machines and track machined parts.
Requirements
- Ability to interpret and apply technical drawing and blueprint reading skills to produce accurate parts.
- Proficiency in CNC programming and programming of machining operations for various materials and part geometries.
- Hands-on experience with machining, milling, and turning including setup, operation, and adjustment of CNC equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, understanding of machining principles, and familiarity with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across production and engineering functions.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two-year machine tool diploma or degree preferred; equivalent hands-on machining experience will also be considered.
- At least two years of experience programming CNC turning and/or machining centers.
- At least one year of experience working with HURCO CNC machines.
