CNC Programmer/ Machinist

Responsibilities

  • Create new CNC programs and operator instructions for tooling production.
  • Develop CNC programs and operator instructions for spares and machine orders.
  • Update and modify existing CNC programs to meet current standards.
  • Input data into the internal ERP system (PRONET) for manufacturing operations and material costs.
  • Log and report accurate data of completed work into required work logs.
  • Collaborate with the design team to provide guidance on the machinability of machine components.
  • Ensure CNC programming check sheets are completed and uploaded with all necessary screenshots.
  • Troubleshoot production issues with the CNC team, including part inspection and rapid response to program change requests.
  • Update programs for future use and create modified programs to meet current production needs.
  • Participate in SQDC (safety, quality, delivery & cost) reporting and RCI initiatives to improve department processes and methods.
  • Adhere to company health and safety procedures, reporting any concerns, near misses, or safety-related issues.
  • Assist in creating training documents, including standard operating procedures and other materials to improve department efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Journeyman’s license in manufacturing acquired through the Department of Labor.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience operating a CNC machine with vertical or horizontal centers.
  • Experience using CNC programming software; SolidWorks/Autodesk and Feature CAM preferred.
  • Technical or Vocational School graduation with a manufacturing focus is preferred.
  • Minimum of four years related work experience preferred; work experience in related studies may be substituted.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming languages (G-Code, M-Code).
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in using measuring devices such as digital calipers, radii gauges, and angle gauges.
  • Familiarity with CNC vertical milling setup and jig fixture design.
  • Understanding of cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for efficient machining.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculations and measurements.
  • Machinist Certification or relevant Journeyman’s license in a manufacturing field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain a positive workplace culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, organizational, and time management skills.
  • High level of mechanical/technical aptitude and troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-reliant, confident, professional, and mature personality with a positive attitude for teamwork.

Physical Requirements

  • Work in a climate-controlled factory environment.
  • Stand continuously for long periods of time.
  • Wear safety clothing and equipment as required.
  • Able to kneel, bend, crouch, and climb ladders to access various parts of machinery.

Work Environment

Air-conditioned warehouse with concrete flooring. Working around machinery and forklifts.
