CNC Programmer/Machinist
Job Description
We are looking for a CNC Programmer / Machinist to join our growing team in Simi Valley, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for projects ownership and programming and machining, but also set-up and operation 3-5th axis CNC machines as needed.
Position Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical blueprints and design models
- Program, setup and operate CNC multi-axis milling and turning machines
- Design and spec out, and implement various fixtures and work holding techniques and methods
- Troubleshoot and issues and make adjustments during the manufacturing process
- Perform quality control inspections during and at the completion of manufacturing process
- Systemic Problem Solving: Analyze complex technical data and engineering notes to identify optimal manufacturing solutions, implementing procedures and approaches to complete work assignments
- Process Innovation: Establish and refine machining techniques and shop standards to ensure the technical team meets its high-precision R&D objectives
- Operational Autonomy: Independently plan the proper sequencing, setup, and execution of complex, multi-stage projects with little to no guidance
- Cross-Functional Integration: Utilize insights into how the machine shop integrates with broader engineering and research divisions to coordinate shared resources, optimize workflows, and achieve project milestones
- Quality Assurance & Methodology: Oversee and implement measurement, testing, and documentation procedures to evaluate completed units, ensure strict conformance to specifications, and establish corrective rework methodologies for complex defects
- Shop Stewardship: Take full ownership of the shop environment, including developing and maintaining compliant processes for hazardous material handling, waste management, and preventative maintenance for advanced workstations
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
- 5+ plus years of experience as a programmer using CAM software such as Master Cam, Surfcam, or HSM
- 5+ years of experience as a machine setup & operator
- Clear knowledge and editing experience of G and M codes
- High level of familiarity with multi-axis and 3D machining
- Experience with 5th axis milling, and or multi-task machines
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
- Experience with Haas, Fanuc controls
- Clear knowledge of various alloys, metals, and plastics
- High level of tooling and fixtures experience
- Knowledge of GD&T
- Able to work alone and take ownership of the entire project from start to finish
- Able to adapt between R&D and short production runs
- Able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
- U.S person status is required as this position needs to access export-controlled data
- Experience with Solidworks EPDM is preferred
- Experience in designing tooling or test equipment is preferred
- Demonstrates competency in solving basic structural dynamics problems
- Demonstrates understanding of engineering configuration management processes and material properties
- Demonstrates understanding of environmental testing, including shock and vibration
- Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties
- Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives
- Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products
- Committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others, and the company

Ability to work in an office and production environment (Constant) Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)

The Salary Range For This Role Is $31 - $48
