About the Role
The production leader ensures the entire production value stream process is followed. They plan, organize, and recommend strategies, and coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to the production schedule.
Schedule
2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:30 p.m.–12:00 a.m.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all employees are present and at workstations on time.
- Check for all safety requirements, including machine guarding, door locks, and PPE.
- Ensure team members are clocked to the current job per the dispatch and remain clocked to a job at all times.
- Focus on the start-on-time objective in each work center.
- Review team performance daily using work center dashboards (safety, quality, schedule).
- Monitor QMS requirements: first-part buy-off, run-a-part checks, and scrap CTH sheets.
- Assist operators with troubleshooting technical issues.
- Utilize the Andon light system to signal technical support only when troubleshooting has not resolved the issue.
- Lead and drive effective communication at shift change (4:15 tie-in) and leave detailed notes using schedule/output.
- Ensure all daily and weekly 6S requirements are completed.
- Lead weekly huddles/stand-downs to discuss team performance.
- Follow up with team members to ensure all training classes are completed.
- Follow through with the area training plan when new operators are assigned.
- Ensure team members are cross-trained to eliminate single points of failure.
- Assist employees with critical elements required to obtain COV certification.
- Promote continuous improvement suggestions from team members, including setup/runtime improvements, quality improvements, and cost-saving ideas.
- Participate in and lead lean/kaizen activities in production.
- Complete leadership readings as required.
- Assist supervisors in root cause corrective action.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
