CNC Precision Machinist

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Precision Machinist specializing in CNC Mill and/or CNC Lathe programming and machining. In this role, you will program, set up, and operate CNC equipment to produce high-quality, tight-tolerance components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This position offers an opportunity to work with advanced machining technology and contribute to high-quality manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of working independently while maintaining production efficiency and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• CNC Programming & Setup
  • Program, edit, and optimize CNC programs for Mill and/or Lathe operations (knowledge of G&M codes preferred).
  • Set up machines including material, tooling selection, offsets, and fixture alignment.
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings accurately to produce complex parts.
  • Select proper cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials.
• Machining & Production
  • Operate CNC Mill and/or Lathe to manufacture precision components.
  • Download existing programs into controls and make necessary adjustments.
  • Update header and tooling information for clarity and usability by others.
  • Monitor machine operations and adjust as necessary to maintain tolerances.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
  • Maintain production efficiency while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Inspect and document parts as required on inspection sheets.
• Quality & Safety
  • Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality surface finishes.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust setups as needed, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Commitment to safety standards and quality assurance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

• 2+ years of CNC machining experience (Mill or Lathe specialization).
• Proficiency in G&M-code programming and editing at the machine.
• Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience with precision measuring tools and quality inspection processes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Experience machining a variety of materials (steel, aluminum, stainless, plastics).
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software (Mastercam preferred).
• Good work ethic, dependable, strong communication skills, positive team player, self-motivated, high integrity, shows initiative.
• Personal measuring equipment preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Manual dexterity and attention to fine detail work.
• Ability to work 50 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Pay

Pay Range: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on level of experience.
