About the role
A Gantry Mill Machinist position is available at Husqvarna Construction in Columbia, SC. The role involves working in the Tool Room within the manufacturing area, using knowledge of metal properties and machining techniques to produce parts that meet exact blueprint and routing specifications.
Responsibilities
- Set up the Haas Gantry Milling machine and fixtures
- Write and edit basic CNC programs
- Machining steel blade cores per blueprint requirements
- Perform quality control checks and ensure compliance to blueprints or routing requirements
- Make corrections to defective machining conditions
- Clean and store tooling
- Clean machines and the work area
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED with course work and training in machine tool technology or confirmed job experience working with metal removal equipment
- Two (2) years minimum machine shop training and one (1) year machine shop experience required
- CNC Operator/Programming Certificate preferred
- Basic set-up and operation of CNC controlled metal removal equipment
- Must understand basic M Code and G code programming
- Experience with other metal removal machines and grinders
- One (1) year minimum experience required
- Ability to correctly interpret engineering mechanical drawings
- Understanding of machining properties of metals
- Understanding of metal removal concepts such as milling, drilling, reaming, and boring
- Understanding of machine speeds and feeds for each machining operation
- Understanding of the metric system of measurement
- Correct usage of quality control measuring equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, and calipers
- Basic shop math to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, geometry, and trigonometry
- Able to lift up to 60 lbs
- Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Able to work in a team environment
