Basic Job Functions
SUMMARY:
The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling machines based on the specifications stated in the bill of materials and work instructions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and organize daily workload to accommodate production schedule.
- Transport parts from racking and staging area utilizing a forklift.
- Safely operate an Up Cut saw in order to cut parts to sizes.
- Properly mark and stage cut parts on carts used to supply the CNC milling operations.
- Review specification to determine setup procedures, dimensions, and machining sequences required to manufacture parts.
- Load CNC programs into machine consoles by entering preprogrammed machine instructions.
- Observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or questionable conditions.
- Perform detailed inspection of manufactured parts to ensure conformance to specifications while striving to maintain production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality.
- Mark and stage completed parts for the assembly process.
- Perform routine machine maintenance including cleaning up and lubrication.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to work the 2nd shift schedule of Monday - Thursday from 3:00pm - 1:30am.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other lifting equipment.
- Requires operating hand tools, power tools and pneumatic tools, general fabrication tools, and various measuring devices.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and/or other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add and subtract two digits numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Squatting, kneeling and standing frequently.
- This position is exposed to dust/dirt frequently and fumes, vapors and mists occasionally.
- This position is in a manufacturing environment where the noise level is high.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
