CNC Operator - 1st Shift

About the Role

Our Quick Coupling Division in Grantsburg, WI is seeking CNC Operators to produce precision parts to print specifications. This role involves reading blueprints and CAD/CAM programs, setting tooling and offsets, performing inspections, and ensuring consistent quality and productivity in a precision manufacturing environment.

A quick coupling provides a fast, make-or-break connection for fluid or gas transfer lines. Parker’s Quick Coupling Division is the world’s largest manufacturer, supplying critical equipment for industries including Agriculture, Construction, and Data Processing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive and professional attitude.
• Use safety best practices including wearing appropriate PPE, practicing Behavior Based Safety, and performing LOTO.
• Operate, set up, and adjust CNC lathes, including multiple spindle CNC lathes.
• Suggest improvements for standard or special tooling to suit materials or unusual cutting conditions.
• Perform operational sequence planning; install chucks and collets, set bar stock feed mechanisms and stops for operations such as facing, turning, drilling, reaming, boring, tapping, threading, and cutting off stock.
• Set tooling offsets, adjust computer control settings, install tool holders, and read/edit programs; capable of using PC/machine interface.
• Check parts for dimensional and finish conformance; correct deviations and notify lead of significant issues.
• Remove and reset tooling or adjust machines as required; ensure parts are produced with minimal burrs and manually clean/deburr parts.
• Handle specialty parts with care; remove machined parts, bar ends, and turnings; separate recyclable turnings.
• Produce pilot pieces for first-piece verification and make adjustments to correct variances.
• Maintain statistical process control charting.
• Perform work from drawings, engineering specifications, layouts, and other operating instructions; recommend improvements.
• Use standard, variable, and attribute gauging to check work.
• Keep tooling inventoried and organized in mini-cribs; use ERR’s to notify engineering and management of review items.
• Maintain proper oil and coolant levels; perform Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM).
• Participate in High Performance Team (HPT) and Continuous Improvement processes.
• Participate on Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) teams as required.
• Operate multi-spindle automatics, ISAMs, NoCAMS, and/or Hydromats if assigned.
• Ensure quality parts throughout the production run.

Physical Requirements

• Continuously lift and move very light weight material (1-5 lbs).
• Frequently lift and move average weight material (5-50 lbs).
• Occasionally lift and move heavy weight material up to 50+ lbs with assistance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of machining experience preferred.
• Ability to use complicated drawings, shop mathematics, handbook formulas, and precision measuring instruments.
• Judgment to perform and make decisions on the sequence of setups and operation of CNC lathes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment.
• Competent in the use of computers.
• Must have taken and passed Parker QCD Basic Shop Course.

Parker will provide training for qualified applicants.

Pay

Starting hourly wage: $25.11

Schedule

• Five (5) 8-hour shifts
• Monday through Friday
• 6:30 am - 2:30 pm
