CNC / MKNB Machine Operator, 2nd Shift - Johnson City, TN

About the role

This position sets up, operates, and tends to grinding machines and related tools that produce fluted endodontic files at our Johnson City, TN location on 2nd shift (Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm).

Responsibilities

• Study shop orders, DHRs, and work instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences.
• Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, utilizing knowledge of machine operation and gauging.
• Activate machine start-up switches to grind, lap, hone, debar, shear, or cut work pieces, according to specifications.
• Observe machine operations to detect any problems; make necessary machine adjustments to correct problems.
• Adjust machine parameters using the machine touch screen interface.
• Inspect or measure endodontic files to determine conformance to required specifications, using measuring instruments such as gauges or comparators.
• Operate 6-8 CNC Machine Files New Beckhoff (MKNBs).
• Perform machine Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) at start-up.
• Select machine tooling and changeover details to be used, utilizing knowledge of machine, production requirements, and process documentation.
• Mount and position grinding wheels and perform tooling changeovers using hand tools.
• Maintain housekeeping (5S and 6S).
• Perform other tasks related to competence as needed by the company.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred, or combination of work experience and education; Technical degree (AS or BS) a plus.
• Six months of work experience and/or training on metal machines preferred.
• Minimum of six months to 1 year of machine operation experience or equivalent technical work/education experience.

Skills

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positioning.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacturing.
