What To Expect Tesla’s Bay Area Prototype Machine Shop is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled CNC Mill Programmer to join the team and contribute to Tesla’s mission. The Prototype Machine Shop Team provides engineers and technicians across the organization with complex and critical machined components and assemblies to meet the most aggressive program objectives. Through close collaboration with a world-class team of fellow machinists, fabricators, engineers, and leadership, we enhance the design of systems and products from concept through production by bringing intangible ideas to the physical world. As a CNC Mill Programmer on the Prototype Team, you will contribute to a range of projects from concept and pre-production vehicles, energy systems, artificial intelligence, robotics, and other future-facing initiatives. What You'll Do Efficiently program, setup and run a variety of 3-axis and 5-axis CNC Mills (GF Mikron, Hermle, DMG, Matsuura, Haas) in a low-volume / high-mix workflowWork directly with engineers to review designs, project requirements, and provide DFM feedbackCut materials, build tooling, design and build fixtures, write, prove, and run programs at the machine, deburr and finish parts, measure and validate parts meet engineering specificationsProgram and machine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials with tight deadlinesProactively track, document, and provide direct feedback with clear communication to management, engineers, and other machinists on design, process, project status and outcomesIdentify, present, plan, and implement shop improvementsMaintain shop equipment and keep your workplace clean and organizedPerform all assignments in a safe manner while adhering to security policies What You'll Bring 10+ years of CNC mill programming experience (Mill-Turn & EDM experience a plus)5-axis programming experience (hyperMILL preferred; training provided for qualified candidates)Thorough knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents, and GD&TAbility to learn and operate multiple CNC controls (Heidenhain, Fanuc, Siemens, Haas)Ability to efficiently program and operate multiple work-centers simultaneouslyExcellent communication skills with ability to develop and present technical information through verbal, email, text, phone, Microsoft Office suite, and other digital communication platformsPositive energy and attitude, with a passion for prototyping and machiningExcellent mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, analytical skills, and time managementAbility to work efficiently and effectively both independently and as a team with minimal supervisionFlexibility, ability to work overtime on short notice based on strategic needs of the company Benefits Compensation and Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $27.92 - $67.20/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
