CNC Machinist - Temp

Aerosonic, founded in 1953, is a leader in aviation instrumentation and avionics equipment, serving major civil, military, and business aircraft manufacturers as well as all branches of the U.S. military. This is a temporary position lasting 6 months, based in Clearwater, FL. All employees must be a U.S. Person.

About the role

As a Machinist, you will operate and maintain various types of machinery to produce precision parts and components based on detailed specifications. You will play a critical role in ensuring product quality and efficiency within our production processes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machining tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
• Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining operations.
• Measure and inspect machined parts to ensure they meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Familiar with ISO/AS9100 requirements and FAI documentation.
• Collaborate with other team members to optimize machining processes.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment by adhering to safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in machining is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience setting up CNC machines (Haas, DMG, Mazak Mille, and DMG lathe).
• Knowledge of setting up 4/5 axis, lathe with live tool/Y axis, and operating CMM inspection machines is a plus.
• Hard tooling experience and ability to work with tight tolerances of 0.0005".
• Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Must be able to work with ITAR products and data without restriction.
• Must be a U.S. Person (i.e., U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or other protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act).
