Aerosonic, founded in 1953, is a leader in aviation instrumentation and avionics equipment, serving major civil, military, and business aircraft manufacturers as well as all branches of the U.S. military. This is a temporary position lasting 6 months, based in Clearwater, FL. All employees must be a U.S. Person.
About the role
As a Machinist, you will operate and maintain various types of machinery to produce precision parts and components based on detailed specifications. You will play a critical role in ensuring product quality and efficiency within our production processes.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate machining tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
- Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining operations.
- Measure and inspect machined parts to ensure they meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and troubleshoot operational issues.
- Familiar with ISO/AS9100 requirements and FAI documentation.
- Collaborate with other team members to optimize machining processes.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment by adhering to safety protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in machining is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience setting up CNC machines (Haas, DMG, Mazak Mille, and DMG lathe).
- Knowledge of setting up 4/5 axis, lathe with live tool/Y axis, and operating CMM inspection machines is a plus.
- Hard tooling experience and ability to work with tight tolerances of 0.0005".
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must be able to work with ITAR products and data without restriction.
- Must be a U.S. Person (i.e., U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or other protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act).
