CNC Machinist- Rotors
About the role
National Oilwell Varco is seeking a CNC Operator to join our team at our Conroe, TX facility. We are a leading supplier of drilling products and are currently operating 24/7 to meet high demand.
Responsibilities
- Set up, maintain, and operate computer-controlled tools (CNC) or machines to process parts, tools, or other work pieces.
- Maintain knowledge of G & M codes and input them into CNC machines for production, while ensuring products have precise and accurate measurements.
- Under the direction of a supervisor and/or experienced machinist, responsible for quality parts produced on CNC machines such as, but not limited, to lathes and milling machines in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
- Operate, perform set-up changes and first article inspections on production runs utilizing CNC Machines.
- Load parts utilizing overhead lifting equipment, prove tapes, operate controls, set offsets, simple edits, deburr and inspect quality parts for conformance to requirements.
- Identify problems before production runs, then start and observe machine operation to detect any other malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
- Read blueprints, precision measuring instruments and job orders to determine dimensions, tolerance and tooling requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of dimensions and tolerances for tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and cutting tools to be used.
- Prove out new programs and make simple edits of NC programs on at least one or more numerically controlled machines.
- Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
- Perform inspection of raw material or verify part serial number before machining.
- Perform work in a safe efficient manner within established work instructions and special processes.
- Perform finish product inspections.
- Maximize yields during job and maintain high quality standard to minimize defects.
- Remain open to feedback and collaboration with other departments and business units.
- Champion facility goals for Safety, Quality, Innovation and Cost - seek opportunities to provide feedback on process improvements, cost savings, and opportunities to work more efficiently and/or safely.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
- 2+ years of CNC mill or lathe experience.
- Knowledge of G & M Codes.
- 1+ yrs. knowledge of standard safety and manufacturing processes preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a machine shop/manufacturing facility is preferred.
- Familiarity with measurement tools is preferred.
- Computer experience is preferred.
Qualifications
