An advanced-level role responsible for programming complex parts and assemblies using Mastercam, serving as a subject matter expert in machining strategy, tooling selection, and process optimization. This position owns the full programming lifecycle—from concept through production—ensuring efficiency, repeatability, and quality. The Level 2 Programmer mentors Level 1 programmers, supports machinists, and drives continuous improvement across machining operations.
Responsibilities
- Program complex parts and assemblies using Mastercam, including complex toolpath generation and postprocessing.
- Apply advanced CNC machining processes (milling and/or turning), including multi-axis machining.
- Select and optimize tooling, tool geometry, coatings, and cutting applications.
- Design and validate machine setups, workholding, and fixtures.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings and translate them into efficient machining processes.
- Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles in programming and inspection.
- Perform inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, etc.).
- Troubleshoot and solve machining problems with minimal supervision.
- Mentor Level 1 programmers and support machinists on the shop floor.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in machining operations.
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Mastercam.
- Strong experience in CNC machining processes (milling and/or turning), including multi-axis machining.
- In-depth knowledge of tooling, tool geometry, coatings, and cutting applications.
- Proven experience with machine setup, workholding design, and fixture validation.
- Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T.
- Proficiency in inspection methods using precision measurement tools.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
