Brief Description

Sabert is seeking a CNC Machinist Programmer to join their team. The primary function is to program, prepare, and machine new product prototypes and production tooling components for the New Product Development department.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Program, machine, and fabricate new products for the plastic thermoforming industry including quality prototyping, assists, modifications, tool upgrades, repair of production tooling, test fixtures, jigs, and support the NPD department and manufacturing.
  • Operate CNC equipment, including programming, part setup, tool calibration, cutting parameters, file management, and file storage management.
  • Adhere to the schedule of jobs to maximize CNC equipment utilization and adjust priorities as needed.
  • Design and fabricate plugs, assists, jigs, test components as requested. Perform polishing, venting, drilling, and tapping as needed.
  • Interface with designers, engineers, manufacturing, and shop personnel. Operate Bridgeport milling machines and other equipment as needed.
  • Maintain condition of CNC machinery and inventory of tools required for efficient machine operation. Inspect new tools to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Offer recommendations for improving reliability, speed, and efficiency of the shop, including process improvement input for quality, tooling, and design.
  • Report programming and machine utilization metrics to the tool room manager. Submit requisitions for purchases or replacements as needed.
  • Perform all work safely and efficiently, maintaining a clean and organized environment. Efficiently deliver and pick up equipment, parts, and tools for repairs.
  • Use hand and power tools as required. Maintain physical characteristics such as lifting up to 70 lbs, standing for up to 8 hours, and working in continuous production environments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 1-5+ years of machinist experience.
  • Mastercam experience.
  • Technical understanding of thermoforming tooling and equipment.
  • Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Proven work ethic, sense of urgency, thoroughness, and proactive thinking.
  • Good reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn and contribute to the department.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when required.
  • Physical characteristics: lift up to 70 lbs, stand for up to 8 hours, work in continuous production environments, and withstand extreme heat temperatures occasionally.
