About the role

2nd Shift (3:30pm to Midnight) CNC Machinist position. This role is part of a collective bargaining union; membership in the local collective bargaining unit is required upon hire. You must be willing to train on first shift until fully qualified. The CNC operator produces critical parts for the Large Motor product line and reports directly to the Production Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Safe set-up and operation of CNC machines, recording measurements using precision instruments, and producing high-tolerance components.
  • Prove out new programs created by engineers for accuracy, efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Load and unload necessary tools into machines and enter tool length offsets.
  • Determine tool wear offsets and interpret drawings.
  • Make feed and speed adjustments to programs for optimized run times.
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform all duties safely in accordance with company and OSHA guidelines.
  • Conduct daily checks of machines to ensure functionality.
  • Handle material using cranes and walk-behind trucks.
  • Record all dimensions of completed parts in labor packets.
  • Ensure all projects are completed safely, correctly, and meet or surpass customer expectations.
  • Follow and promote all safety and quality directives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of operating and set-up experience with CNC lathes and/or mill-turn machines.
  • Ability to recognize improper machine and tool performance.
  • Proficient with understanding G&M code.
  • Ability to use and read micrometers, depth gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Knowledge of decimal and metric systems.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • High mechanical aptitude with good math skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
  • Siemens 840D control experience (a plus).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-driven.

Pay

Base pay rate: $33.76 per hour. Shift differential for second shift: +$1.00 per hour. The actual wage offered may vary based on budget, candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
