About the role

Pelican Products, Inc. is seeking a Machinist II to join our team in South Deerfield, MA. This position operates CNC machining equipment to manufacture precision components, drives quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement, and mentors less experienced machinists.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machining equipment to manufacture precision components.
  • Select tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies to ensure quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Edit and optimize CNC programs as needed to improve machining performance and product quality.
  • Perform manual machining operations on Bridgeport-style equipment when required.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
  • Debur, finish, and perform other secondary machining operations as needed.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Mentor and support less experienced machinists and machine operators.
  • Maintain accurate production records and support quality documentation.
  • Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and operating safely.
  • Follow company quality standards, safety procedures, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Commitment to producing high-quality work with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating with production and engineering teams.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CNC programming experience.
  • Experience with Bridgeport-style manual mills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.

The annual U.S. pay range for this position is listed below. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Monday - Friday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm EST
