About the role

The salary range for this CNC Machinist 1 position is $27.00–$36.00 per hour, plus an additional 10% second-shift premium. This role involves producing precision-machined components by setting up and operating horizontal or vertical CNC machining centers while ensuring strict adherence to quality, documentation, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints and work instructions to set up and operate 3- and 4-axis CNC mills with correct fixturing, tooling, and parameters to produce compliant precision machined parts.
  • Verify machined part accuracy using precision measuring tools and equipment following documented quality plans.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make real-time adjustments to improve performance and accuracy.
  • Train and mentor junior machinists, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Maintain detailed production records and comply with quality assurance and safety protocols.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines to prevent downtime.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, consistently use personal protective equipment, and practice good housekeeping.
  • Maintain regular, on-time attendance and adhere to company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of CNC machining experience in setup, operation, and optimizing CNC vertical and horizontal machine centers.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining and programming principles.
  • Ability to edit and/or write basic machining macros.
  • Ability to quickly identify and troubleshoot machining problems during approval or production processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints with a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, remain on feet for extended periods, reach, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 35 pounds as needed.
