CNC MACHINIST I (B Shift)

About the role

LISI AEROSPACE is a specialized manufacturer of high-tech metal components for aircraft engines and airframes. The CNC Machinist I position plays a crucial role in maintaining production schedules and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines in accordance with established programs, work instructions, and safety procedures
• Load and unload parts and monitor machine cycles
• Change basic tooling as required
• Use gauges and precision measuring devices to perform in-process inspections
• Verify parts meet quality and dimensional requirements
• Recognize improper machine functioning and report findings to CNC Machinist II, CNC Machinist III, CNC Machinist Lead, or Supervisor
• Use pass down sheets and participate in face-to-face problem-solving meetings to communicate machine status
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Comply with all company safety, quality, and production policies
• Assist supervisors, mechanical engineers, and planners with work organization

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of CNC machining experience
• Experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
• Experience using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• Familiarity with basic shop floor systems and production documentation

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of CNC machining experience or successful completion of the internal CNC Machinist Trainee program
• Ability to adjust basic tooling and make routine tooling changes
• Ability to use basic measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints
• Basic math skills (decimals and fractions)
• Ability to communicate machine status and issues clearly using pass downs and face-to-face communication

Skills

• Working knowledge of shop floor systems used for production tracking, quality, and communication
• Working knowledge of safety rules, job safety analyses, and PPE requirements
• Ability to prioritize safety, quality, and accuracy over speed
• Ability to maintain awareness of machine condition and production status
• Ability to communicate clearly and consistently through pass downs and direct discussion
• Ability to accept coaching and apply feedback to improve performance
• Ability to escalate issues promptly rather than attempting unauthorized fixes

Pay

The CNC Machinist I position offers a competitive pay range of $21.90 - $24.87 per hour.

Schedule

Hours are typically Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime as needed.
