Location: Capewell Aerial Systems - South Windsor, CT

Reports to: Production Manager

About the Role

Produces machined parts by operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the various shop equipment including but not limited to CNC mills and CNC lathes using vises, fixtures, and rotary indexers.
  • Inspect own work with standard gaging.
  • Maintain quality and production standards.
  • Make tool adjustments and changes.
  • Perform secondary operations as required.
  • Maintain equipment and/or machinery.
  • Assist in helping other operators to maintain production and quality.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures.
  • Fill out inspection, work orders, and process records.
  • Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are required.
  • Work toward continual improvement of self and job.
  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Work cooperatively with other employees to meet department and company goals.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors or management to support departmental and organizational objectives.

This position requires personal protective equipment on the shop floor where safety glasses and composite toe safety shoes are mandatory.

Requirements

  • Completion of a precision manufacturing program required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in CNC manufacturing highly preferred.
  • Must have experience with CNC Mills.
  • Experience with HAAS equipment a plus.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Able to set up and run multiple machines when needed.
  • Desire to learn new skills.
  • Must have good basic math skills.
  • Able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Previous independent work environment preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Person, as defined by U.S. export control laws.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

This position operates in a typical manufacturing environment and requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements may include:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must occasionally climb up to 10 steps and/or 9 feet high on a ladder.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues and stakeholders.
