CNC Machinist

About the Role

Weir Minerals is seeking a full-time, permanent Machinist to work onsite in Candler, FL on the afternoon shift (4:15 pm – 11:45 pm). Overtime is available. You’ll operate and set up various machines to produce precision parts for the mining industry, contributing to more efficient and sustainable resource extraction.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up machines including drill press, engine lathe, turret lathe, CNC lathe, and machining centers to produce precision parts such as volutes, shells, liners, and impellers.
• Perform daily tasks including proving out setups, producing pilot workpieces for inspection, diagnosing machine or tooling malfunctions, and making corrective adjustments.
• Work from complex blueprints, part drawings, specifications, and setup instructions to ensure high-quality parts with tight tolerances.
• Perform troubleshooting, minor CNC program edits, and efficiency improvements.
• Manage multi-tooled arrangements with tight tolerances and critical dimensional relationships (200,000-500,000 micrometers).
• Perform die sharpening, tool changeovers, and replacements to maintain smooth machine operation and quality output.
• Demonstrate 100% commitment to zero-harm behaviors and support a world-class safety culture.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1+ years of manual CNC machining experience with strong mill and lathe skills.
• Experience in die sharpening and tool changeovers.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Fanuc controls.
• Assembly or casting experience.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting and minor CNC program edits.
