Summary

The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist will be responsible for performing all the necessary set-up, inspection, tool changes and production required to manufacture airplane cargo systems parts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, and surface grinders.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Knowledge of GD&T symbols, Datums, and geometric tolerancing.
  • Perform inspections and measurements to ensure that finished parts meet required tolerances and quality standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on machine tools to ensure they operate efficiently and safely.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for different jobs.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, maintain a clean and orderly workspace, and report any faulty equipment or unusual conditions.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to resolve production issues and improve machining processes.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Horizontal Machining Centers and Vertical Machines preferred.
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC equipment utilizing Haas, Mazak, Fanuc, Hurco, or similar controls.
  • Experience with CNC milling and turning operations, a plus.
  • Knowledge of precision measurement equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gauge pins, gauge blocks, etc.)
  • Understanding of blueprint interpretation, tooling, fixturing, and machining processes.
  • This position requires access to export control information. To conform to US Export Control regulations, the applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the US Government.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The position requires that the employee regularly sit and use their hands to handle or feel. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees should be able to adapt to a traditional warehouse environment.
