About the Role

Triumph Group designs, engineers, manufactures, repairs and overhauls a broad portfolio of aviation and industrial components, accessories, subassemblies, systems and aircraft structures. We partner with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and operators of commercial, regional, business and military aircraft worldwide to provide products and services that solve their hardest problems. Triumph participates at all levels of the aerospace supply chain and provides solutions for the entire product life cycle of an aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
  • Fit and assemble machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.
  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Work with hand tools, measuring devices, power tools, milling machines, lathes, band saws, bench grinders, and materials.
  • Apply basic knowledge of G-code and Conversational Programming.
  • Service and maintain machines, including performing operations, set-ups, adjustments, cleaning, and prove-outs on CNC or Lathe machines.
  • Read blueprints and/or job orders for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions (e.g., fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut).
  • Follow sequence of operations per routings and complete tasks including dimensional and visual inspections per print specifications.
  • Report labor on jobs by completing paperwork and scanning into the system.
  • Repair and replace defective parts using lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools.
  • Assemble components and controls, both simple and complex.
  • Machine materials other than metal, such as composites, plastic, and rubber as required.
  • Clean machine, tooling, and parts, and perform machine maintenance following 6S principles.
  • Adjust machine feed, speed, and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machines malfunction; coordinate with manufacturing engineer.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures and certify/test product.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of related machining experience.
  • Post-high school coursework or professional certification preferred.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Qualifications

  • Perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude.
  • Dependable attendance.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Flexibility with changes in work requirements.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills, such as opening and saving files, and data entry.
  • Understand basic terminology used in the job functional area.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • GD&T knowledge and troubleshooting skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may require bending and carrying up to 40 lbs.
  • Sitting or standing for a minimum of eight hours per day.
