CNC Machinist

About the role

Robinson Helicopter Company, a leading manufacturer of civil rotorcraft with a 50-year history, is seeking a CNC Machinist for its CNC Department in Torrance, CA. This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Manager of Machining and is eligible for overtime.

Responsibilities

• Use CNC lathes, mills, lasers, and waterjets to cut metal for helicopter and helicopter part manufacturing in accordance with FAA-approved procedures and data.
• Review blueprints and drawings to determine set-up procedures, machining sequences, and dimensions.
• Set up jobs by loading programs, selecting fixtures, part holders, and tooling to machine parts to specifications.
• Operate CNC machine controls, adjusting tool offsets, indicating fixtures or parts, changing tools, and following part programs.
• Monitor tools and attachments to ensure proper cooling and lubrication of parts.
• Apply knowledge of feeds, speeds, and surface finishes to meet blueprint requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and geometric tolerances.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra) for material fabrication.
• Use precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, dial bores, thread gauges, and other basic instruments.
• Maintain full compliance with the Company’s DOT Antidrug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Program.
• Ensure regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

• Ability to review and interpret blueprints, drawings, and geometric tolerances.
• Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC machines, including lathes, mills, lasers, and waterjets.
• Basic mathematical skills, including geometry and algebra, for calculating material fabrication.
• Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
• Familiarity with feeds, speeds, and surface finishes related to machining requirements.

Pay

$22.00–$35.00 per hour.
