About the Role

Komline Custom Machining is looking for a skilled CNC Machinist (lathes) to join our team and help us deliver precision parts and components.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, multi-axis boring machines, EDM equipment, and waterjet systems.
  • Program CNC machines using CAM software and G-code/M-code to support efficient and accurate machining operations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, CAD models, and specifications to produce precision components.
  • Develop prototypes and first-run parts in collaboration with Engineering, including refining designs and machining processes for manufacturability.
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences based on material and part requirements.
  • Inspect finished components using precision measurement equipment to verify dimensional accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machining, programming, tooling, and equipment issues and make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and coordinate repairs when needed.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to meet project timelines and production goals.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including waste reduction, setup-time improvement, standardized work, and process optimization.
  • Recommend improvements to machining methods, tooling, programming, workflow, safety, and product quality.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of CNC machining experience or completion of a relevant technical program.
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes, mills, or multi-axis machining equipment.
  • Working knowledge of G-code and M-code.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, technical specifications, and CAD models.
  • Experience using precision measurement tools, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot machining and equipment issues.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with Engineering and Production teams.
  • Experience supporting lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move materials as required.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience operating multi-axis boring machines, EDM equipment, and waterjet systems.
  • Experience with CAM programming and software such as Mastercam or a comparable platform.
  • Experience machining prototypes, first-run components, and low-volume custom parts.
  • Experience with CNC lathes, turning centers, or turn-mill equipment.
  • Experience applying lean tools such as 5S, standardized work, setup reduction, root-cause analysis, and value-stream improvement.
