Duties And Responsibilities
- Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, shapers, or grinders.
- CNC and manual
- Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or calipers
- Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines
- Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
- Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition
- Organize machine programs
- Responsible for managing tooling needs
- Have all pieces verified by quality (in the event that quality is not available, use the "buddy system" to ensure quality of pieces)
- Ensure all parts are labeled and have job travelers with correct parts and record count for those parts
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products
Qualifications
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
- 1-2 years manual and CNC machining experience required; 2-4+ years preferred
- CNC Programming experience, required
