Role Purpose

As a CNC Machinist, you'll be responsible for setting, operating and programming 5-axis CNC machinery to manufacture components accurately and efficiently. You'll work from technical drawings and designs, use CAD/CAM software to support programming and production, and ensure finished components meet the required quality and specification.

Responsibilities

  • Set, operate and program 5-axis CNC machinery.
  • Produce bespoke components accurately to technical drawings, designs and specifications.
  • Use CAD/CAM software to support CNC programming and production.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
  • Set machines, tooling and workpieces to ensure production runs efficiently.
  • Make programme and machine adjustments where required to maintain accuracy and quality.
  • Carry out quality checks throughout the machining process.
  • Identify and resolve basic machine, tooling and production issues.
  • Work with a range of materials and components depending on production requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, finish and workmanship across all work.
  • Work closely with the wider workshop and production team to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
  • Follow all company health and safety procedures and safe machine operating practices.

Requirements

  • Previous CNC machining experience within a relevant manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Strong experience operating and programming 5-axis CNC machinery.
  • Experience within industries such as stone, woodworking, joinery, furniture, shopfitting, exhibition/display, composites, plastics, solid surface or architectural manufacturing would be highly relevant.
  • Experience using CAD/CAM software.
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret technical drawings.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve basic production issues.
  • Proactive and reliable approach to work.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a wider workshop team.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.

  • £15.00-£18.00 per hour depending on experience.
  • Overtime paid at 1.5x.
  • Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm.
