CNC Machinist

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC OD/ID grinding equipment with minimal supervision.
• Review and adhere to routers, sketches, set-up sheets, machining instructions to meet specific operation specifications including tool requirements, wheel grades, dressing frequency, speeds and feeds.
• Maintain proper documentation for SPC data collection.
• Inspect work using a variety of measurement tools such as micrometers, bore gauges, indicators and amps.
• Responsible for maintaining production cycle times.
• Absorb any and all visual discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
• Inspection and be accountability for parts produced through various steps.
• Perform secondary work such as polishing, part cleaning and corrosion prevention.
• Set up and operate CNC Gear Hobbing and Shaping equipment with minimal to no supervision.
• Cutting gear and spline teeth and holding tolerances of between .001"-.0001" on lead and involute.
• Run a CNC gear inspection machine along with micrometers, gages and amps.
• Maintain proper documentation of SPC data and collaborate with management staff and supervisor.
• Verify part quantity with the job traveler.
• Make machine adjustments as required to maintain print specifications.
• Load and unload machines as per the cycle time noted on the traveler.
• Determine when wheels need replacement.
• Absorb any and all visual discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
• Perform secondary work such as polishing, part cleaning and corrosion prevention.

Qualifications

• A Highschool Diploma or GED.
• Prior hands-on CNC experience, including set-up and troubleshooting preferred, but not required.
• Understanding of GD&T.
• Ability to evaluate quality and make machine adjustments as needed to maintain product conformance to sketches.
• Good oral communicator including understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

Work Environment

• Must have ability to lift 25-40 lbs.
• Frequent Standing, Twisting and Bending.
