Position Overview
Through this Apprenticeship you will learn manufacturing skills, get working knowledge and experience on a variety of CNC machines and controls. The apprentice shall receive on the job training as well as related supplemental instruction with our partners at Lower Columbia College to become a qualified journey-level Machinist.
LifePort Machinist Duties and Responsibilities
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and informs lead person of discrepancies.
- Thoroughly inspects first part run.
- Mets job standard times with minimal supervision.
- Recognizes production problems and informs supervisor.
- Understands basic machine language (G and M codes).
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring tools.
- Reads and interprets manufacturing / Engineering drawings.
- Performs miscellaneous duties in the machine shop as directed.
- Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of equipment and procedures.

- Demonstrates a good attitude toward work and arrives on time for start of shift.
- Communicates well verbally and in writing.
- Mechanically inclined, with good manual dexterity.
Apprentice Program Minimum Qualifications
- Age: Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Education: Applicant shall be a high school graduate or equivalent and provide proof of educational attainment through such means as diploma, transcripts, or official GED or High School Equivalency test results.
- Physical: Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the occupation with or without reasonable accommodation and without endangering the safety or health of co-workers.
