CNC Machinist 3rd Shift

About the role

Join our team at Zygo Corporation in Middlefield, CT, a global leader in designing and manufacturing advanced optical metrology systems, ultra-precise optical components, and complex electro-optical systems and assemblies. As a CNC Machinist on the 3rd shift, you will work in a collaborative team environment with state-of-the-art equipment, driving innovative solutions and addressing complex technical challenges in our cutting-edge Optics group.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC and non-CNC machines to perform machining operations, including but not limited to drilling, milling, and shaping glass material to specifications.
• Assemble cutting tools and position tools in machine spindles according to requirements.
• Write, load, edit, and store programs to produce accurately machined parts.
• Work from complex drawings, sketches, specifications, and written/verbal instructions.
• Perform complex set-ups to operate machinery on assignments that are new and unusual.
• Partner with engineering teams as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (preferably from a trade school). Associate’s degree or Certificate in machining, metrology, and manufacturing operations is a plus.
• 1+ years of hands-on production machining experience.
• Safety-first mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and high quality.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and process routings.
• Working knowledge of shop math and theory.
• Collaborative team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate, influence, and mentor others.
• Driven to achieve, with the ability to take initiative, be resilient, and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Capable of lifting and moving up to 70 lbs. and standing for extended periods of time.
• Legal right to work in the U.S. and authorization to access export-controlled information and source code.

Pay

Salary range: $50,000 – $60,000 USD per year (hourly position). The actual salary offered will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, market/business considerations, and geographic location.
