Responsibilities
- Operate drill presses, manual milling machines, CNC milling machines, manual lathes and CNC lathes.
- Perform complex set-up of CNC machines by loading programs, installing and adjusting chucks, cutting tools, attachments, tool holders, vises, collets, bushings, stops and stock pushers.
- Make adjustments to the program as needed.
- Load and unload raw materials and parts into the machine.
- Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces adhering to company quality standards.
- Inspect and measure finished product using calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other machinist hand tools.
- Compare finished product to drawing specifications to determine if they adhere to company quality standards.
- Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting controls; and replacing worn tools.
- Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Keep work area in clean and orderly condition, complying with established 5S standards.
- Maintain a safe work environment to prevent on-the-job injuries by following and promoting company, OSHA and EPA rules and regulations, implementing machine safeguards, recognizing and reporting safety hazards and follow all safety procedures and standards.
- Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred and five (5) years of experience operating and programming CNC Mills or Lathes.
- Seven (7) years of experience is preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand basic English.
- Proficiency in basic math and trigonometry.
- Able to communicate and work as a team member.
- Able to work independently with minimum to no supervision.
- Able to read and understand part and tool prints.
- Able to use precision measuring tools and hold close tolerances.
