Essential Job Functions
- Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle
- Must be familiar with measuring instruments (measuring tape, calipers)
- Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
- Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines
- Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
- Test operation of machines periodically
- Fix issues that might occur during the shift
- Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
- Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
- Maintain activity logs
- Performing routine inspections of manufacturing equipment
- Evaluate the efficiency of each unit regularly, identifying improvements as needed
Requirements
- Ability to proactively troubleshoot problems
- Work as a team within department and with other departments
- Proven experience as a machine operator
- Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement
- Adherence to health and safety regulations
- Read blueprints, schematics and manuals
- Analytical skills and attention to detail
- Work scheduled hours and comply with the company's timekeeping policy and all other company policies
Required Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
- Physical capability to properly handle tooling and safely set up large pieces; including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning products
- Must be able to stand, sit and bend for long periods of time
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment: loud noise levels, high temperatures, dirt and sand
- Required PPE: steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, dust masks, and/or respirators
