About the role
Steel of West Virginia, a division of Steel Dynamics, Inc., is seeking a CNC Lathe Operator (Roll Turner) to join their team. This position is located in SWVA, Inc.’s two rolling mills.
Responsibilities
- Setting up, programming, and monitoring large industrial lathes to form metal blanks into specific shapes required to roll steel products.
- Taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools, and maintaining quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Planning machining by studying work orders, blueprints and specifications and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
- Programming lathes to create new rolls from metal blanks or to dress rolls to return them to within required specifications by entering instructions, setting tool registries, and calculating requirements.
- Making accurate calculations using basic math, geometry and trigonometry.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Meaningful experience on CNC lathes (including proficiency in the use of micrometers and calipers).
- Mechanical ability.
- Blueprint reading ability.
- Programming experience on CNC's.
- Computer skills.

Pay
Pay after a brief probationary period for a Roll Turner is $28.59 per hour for the first 40 hours; $42.89 for hours over 40; and $57.18 for work on the seventh consecutive day.
